Hum..... I am not convinced that rendering roads, railways, bridges, and cities can be easily added without any big concern by the engine itself.... in DCS, you face a huge drop of FPS whenever you fly over medium-sized cities due to the fact that any building is just considered as any other 3D object on the land. IMHO, The engine needs to deal with cities in a dedicated way, not to suffer from FPS drop. So, if it is easy, please do .... you will enhance greatly your empty environment.

The main issue concerning the framerate dropdown is when you want to deal with collision detection.
For example, in X-Plane, you will encounter a severe dropdown in framerate when you make buildings "collidable". The sim engine will have then to check the collision on multiple 3D objects that kills the physical engine. this is the reason why most of the buildings are simple 3D objects that are flyable through. I gess this is the same issue for DCS that has to deal with collision detections as it is a "war and destructuction" simulateur, not only a flight simulateur. Anyway, to prevent from killing framerate, the trees (that are numerous) are also flyable through. Cheers --------------------
