LANDING APPROACHES BY INTERCEPTING INITIAL POINT OF TURN TO PROGRAMMED AIRFIELD

[...]

54. After reaching an altitude of 600m, perform the flight to the initial point of turn at an airspeed of 450 to 500km/h
Perform the turn to the runway landing heading by reference to the deflection of the selected course pointer and the vertical position bar on the combined course indicator at banks of up to 30°
When flying a 30° flight leg, after rolling into the final, extend the landing gear, flaps and proceed with the further level flight at an airspeed of 400km/h till the aircraft intercepts the equisignal zone of the glide slope beacon (at a distance of 12 to 14km at an altitude of 600m).

[.....]

When the LANDING mode is selected, the pilot receives the following information:
- the course and glide slope deviation bars on the combined course indicator show the position of the equisignal zones of the course and glide slope with respect to the aircraft;
- the large circle on the integrated display system screen displays the departure of the aircraft from the equisignal zones of the course and glide slope;
- the distance to the runway is displayed on the combined course Indicator and on the integrated display system screen;
- the selected course pointer on the combined course indicator shows the landing heading.

The landing approach by rolling out of the initial point of turn may be executed in the automatic, director or manual control mode and by reference to the radio beacon relative bearing.

Landing Approach in Automatic Control Mode

55. Select the automatic control mode from the director control one at speeds less than 400km/h

[...]

When the pilot intervenes with the aircraft control, the automatic control mode is switched off

han, même pas vrai dans LockOn...

In the process of the entire landing approach in the automatic control mode, timely correct the engine power setting in compliance with the assigned flying regime, avoiding the airspeed loss. Maintain the values of the airspeed and altitude of the flight versus the distance to the runway as indicated in table 6:

TABLE 6:
- 14 to 12km = 600m / 400km/h
- 9 to 7 km = 400m / 370 to 360km/h
- 4 km = 200m / 330 to 320km/h
- 1 km = 50m / 310 to 300km/h

At an altitude of 50m, switch off the automatic control mode by depressing the AFCS MODE OFF button located on the control stick [...]

Landing Approach in Manual Control Mode

[...]

While intercepting the runway landing heading, it is necessary to determine the aircraft attitude with respect to the runway alignement, make the necessary corrective turns to enter the equisignal zone of the course radio beacon, having set the course deviation bar on the combined course indicator within the circle and proceed with flyning to the field at an altitude of 600m
Check the arrival of the aircraft at the aircraft at the equisignal zone of the glide slope radio beacon by reference to the approch of the glide slope deviation bar on the combined course indicator to the centre.
After intercepting the equisignal zone of the glide slope, bring the aircraft into descent, keeping the glide slope deviation bar on the flight director indicator within the circle.
Maintain the altitude and the airspeed of the flight depending on the distance to the runway.

Landing Approach with the Use of Radio Beacon Relative Bearing

[...]
Perform the flight to a distance of 12 to 14km at an altitude of 600m and then, bring the aircraft into a descent according to the assigned mode.
[...]
Execute the instrument flying till the aircraft arrives at the area under the clouds at an altitude of 300m and a distance of 6km to the runway, after which change over to the visual flying, verify the landing approach and its calculation and land the aircraft.

Landing Approah to unprogrammed airfield with use of navigation system

[...]
- when on the runway (landing) heading, turn on the LANDING switch at an altitude of 600m and distance of up to 35km from the runway.

Landing Approach by Making two 180° turns

63. For executing the landing approach by asking two 180° turns after going around, proceed as follows:
- make a corrective turn to the runway landing heading;
- retract the landing gear and flaps if they have been extended;
- turn on crosswing leg at an airspeed of 450 to 500km/h at a bank of 30° climbing to an altitude of 600m or to the altitude assigned for the given airfield (assigned by the flight control officer)

During the training flights, the flight time till the first 180° turn should amout to:
- one minute from the begining of the takeoff run;
- one minute after flying over the locator middile marker during the goaround;
- one minute and 30 seconds after flying over the locator outer marker during the goaround.

[...]

Straight In Landing Approach

[...]

When flying a 30° flight leg, after intercepting the landing heading, extend the landing gear, and flaps and bring the aircraft into the descent if the transitional and vertical speeds versus the flight altitude and distance to the runway:

<= 2000m = 450km/h, 40m/s, 30 to 29km
<= 1000m = 450km/h, 15m/s, 21 to 20km
<= 600m = 400km/h, 8 to 6m/s, 14 to 12km
<= 400m = 270 to 260km/h, 5 to 3m/s, 9 to 8km
<= 200m = 330 to 320km/h, 5 to 3m/s, 4km
